Unique stained glass collages, clocks and vases
created in the backwoods of Maine.
Thank you for taking the time to visit Ken Jorgensen Designs.
More than forty years ago I created my first stained glass panel for the front door of an 1864 farm house my wife Liz and I had recently moved into.
I took the courses needed to get started and with a lot of enthusiasm and
a background in graphic design proceeded to create that first piece and found myself hooked on the process ever since.
At first inspiration for my work came from surrounding ponds and woodland
areas found in the foothills of Western Maine. Here I would take the untamed beauty and transform it into glass motifs and symbols of nature.
The subject matter could be a family of mallards swimming among lily
pads or stylized images of owls and frogs sand etched from the fused color layer of flashed glass.
Over time the inspiration came from the glass itself. My newest designs
are abstract glass collages in the form of stained glass window panels, clocks, candle shelters and vases. I would use glass beads, bevels, glass spheres and rods, brass filigree and strands of wire, along with cut pieces of textured glass. Basically, anything of visual interest is used to create a cohesive design. My goal being to create a piece of art to playfully delight the eye. A subtle color palette was chosen to compliment the prism quality of the bevel glass frames and the light bending effect of the glass spheres and nuggets. Most of my stained glass collages are handcrafted limited edition originals, while others are one
of a kind designs.
I am a member of the Maine Crafts Association and the Society of Southern Maine Craftsmen and no longer participate in
their craft fairs, but instead taking on commissioned work only. My studio is open by appointment and I can be reached by calling (207) 562-8819 to discuss your stained glass needs or email me at [email protected].
